NOTES FROM MATES

It All Begins Here

At AURI, we’re always looking for the connections between things — the people, places, ideas and experiences that, when brought together, create something unexpected.

Notes From Mates is an ongoing series born from that curiosity.

We’re turning the lens towards the people in our orbit: collaborators, artists, photographers, chefs, designers, founders, thinkers and friends who are making their own mark in the places they call home.

From Kyoto to Los Angeles, Bangkok to Seoul, Melbourne and beyond, these are people we’ve crossed paths with through work, travel, creative projects and, often, a little bit of instinct. Some connections have lasted years. Others have happened quickly but left a lasting impression.

What interests us isn’t necessarily what they’ve achieved, but how they move through the world — what they’re paying attention to, what shapes their days, where they find inspiration and the ideas they keep coming back to.

Notes From Mates is part diary, part documentation.

A place to share the everyday details alongside the bigger picture: the morning ritual, the neighbourhood they return to, the current soundtrack, the work on the table, the conversation that shifted their thinking.

Because we believe that the people around us influence what we see, what we make and where we go next.

At the heart of AURI is the idea of connecting the dots, bringing together people, places and perspectives that might not otherwise meet. Sometimes those connections lead to a project. Sometimes they lead somewhere much less tangible. A new idea. A different way of seeing something. A friendship that continues long after the work is finished.

For us, those connections are worth documenting.

So, this is an archive of the people we know, the people we admire, and the people we continue to learn from, across cities, cultures and creative disciplines.

Small Steps Create Big Shifts

It All Begins Here

Confidence doesn’t always arrive with a bold entrance. Sometimes, it builds quietly, step by step, as we show up for ourselves day after day. It grows when we choose to try, even when we’re unsure of the outcome. Every time you take action despite self-doubt, you reinforce the belief that you’re capable. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about trusting that you can figure it out along the way.

The key to making things happen isn’t waiting for the perfect moment; it’s starting with what you have, where you are. Big goals can feel overwhelming when viewed all at once, but momentum builds through small, consistent action. Whether you’re working toward a personal milestone or a professional dream, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. Action creates clarity, and over time, those steps forward add up to something real.

You don’t need to be fearless to reach your goals, you just need to be willing. Willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to believe that you’re capable of more than you know. The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. What matters most is that you keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming.
